Governor’s Budget Update
Yesterday, the Subcommittee 1 on Education voted to provide CAEP an additional 2.31% COLA, which would bring the new COLA amount to 4.05%. Other approved items include streamlining the CAEP fund disbursement process. For more details, review the subcommittee agenda. Please note, these approved items still have to be placed in the budget bill and voted on (and signed by the Governor). It’s a good start – but the race is far from over. Stay tuned.
Reminder: CAEP Quarter 3 Member Expense Report Reminder and Fund Expiration
The Quarter 3 Member Expense Report is due in NOVA by June 1, 2021. The Member Expense Report is to be certified by the consortium no later than June 30, 2021. Some things to consider as you are submitting your expenditure reports:
  • Verify expenditures entered are year-to-date (cumulative).
  • If cumulative expenditures are in fact less than the previous quarter, revise Q1 and/or Q2.
  • Consider completing a budget revision if over budget in any object code.
  • Include specific, clear, and concise activities in the “Summary of Activities” section.
  • If expenditures, by any object code, fall below target and you are prompted to complete a corrective action plan, include clear, concise, and actionable steps to meet the spending targets next quarter.
  • The target spend down date for 2019-20 funds is June 30, 2021. With a corrective action plan, funds can be spent through December 31, 2021. However, the corrective action plan must include clear, concise, and actionable steps to spend down by December 31, 2021.
If you need assistance completing the expense report, contact CAEP TAP at tap@caladulted.org or (888) 827-2324. We are ready to help!
CAEP Summit 2021 Call for Proposals Now Open
The CAEP Summit Planning Committee strives to create an extraordinary presentation experience for presenters and attendees. To assist in this endeavor, CAEP TAP hosts a series of presenter tech training to prepare presenters for their sessions. This year, we will host another presenter tech training series! If you are reluctant to submit a proposal due to presenting in a virtual environment, know that we are here to help prepare you!
This year’s theme is Same Foundation, New Way Forward. Recovery. Equity. Transition. Adult Education continues to support adult learners through unprecedented change. Take this opportunity to share with CAEP practitioners the strategies you used to keep your adult learners actively engaged and learning during this time of recovery, equity, transition and much more.
Chaffey Adult School Student Survey Preliminary Results 2020-21
Do you want to better understand how your agency could deliver instruction and services in this COVID-19 era? Ask your adult learners! Chaffey Adult School is currently surveying their current adult learners to better understand how to deliver instruction and services that are aligned with their learners’ current realities and needs. In a review of their preliminary analysis, of the 411 responses received, 68 percent either strongly agreed (40 percent) or agreed (28 percent) they prefer to learn at home with a teacher on the computer. Additionally, the top career, employment or educational interests or goals are getting a better job, improve English to better communicate, and get a job.
Review the preliminary results to understand the current adult learners at Chaffey Adult School.
